How VukaWork Works

6 October 2026

VukaWork connects people who need a job done with local casual workers who can do it. It is a marketplace, not an agency — we do not supply staff, and we do not do the work. You choose who does.

Here is exactly how it runs, from both sides.

If you are hiring

1. Post the job with your budget

You describe what needs doing and set the budget yourself. There is no quoting process and no haggling — the number is yours, stated upfront, before anyone applies.

Posting is free for hirers. There are no platform fees on your side.

The more specific the post, the better the applicants. “Garden clean-up, roughly 400m², green waste bagged, Saturday morning, R450” gets you people who can actually do that job at that price. “Garden work” gets you questions.

2. People nearby decide whether to apply

Workers in your area see the job and your budget, and choose whether it is worth their time. The ones who apply have already agreed to your number.

That is deliberately the opposite of a quote system. You are not comparing prices — you are comparing people, which is the thing that actually determines whether a job goes well.

3. You pick your person

You see who applied and choose. Their profile shows what kind of work they have done.

4. The money is held safely in escrow

Payment goes into escrow before the work starts, through our payment partner TradeSafe. It sits there, held safely, until the job is done.

This matters to both sides. The worker can see the money exists before they spend a morning on your job. You are not handing over cash for work that has not happened yet.

Funds release on completion. If someone does not turn up, you report a no-show.

If you are looking for work

1. Build a profile

Show what you have actually done. Specific experience beats general claims — “forty garden clean-ups in the northern suburbs” tells a hirer far more than “hard worker”.

2. See jobs near you, with the budget shown

Every job shows what it pays before you apply. You decide whether it is worth your time and your taxi fare. No bidding against other people, no undercutting.

3. Apply in seconds

If the job and the number suit you, apply. The hirer picks from everyone who said yes.

4. Get paid safely

The money is in escrow before you start. It is not a promise to pay you next week — it is already there, held safely, and released when the job is done.

What VukaWork is not

Worth being clear about this.

It is not a labour broker. We do not employ the workers on the platform and we do not supply them to you. The arrangement is between you and the person you choose.

It is not a vetting service. Workers build profiles and can optionally add documents. That is information to help you choose, not a guarantee from us.

It is not for permanent staff. VukaWork is built for casual and short-term work — a day, a weekend, a once-off job, a function. If you are hiring someone permanently, you want a contract and proper advice, not an app.

What you can hire for

Cleaning, gardening, general labour, farm work, event and hospitality staff, and building and brickwork assistance.

Posting is free for hirers. There are no platform fees on the hiring side — you pay the rate you set and agree with the worker.

Do workers send me quotes?

No. You set the budget when you post the job. Workers nearby see it and decide whether to apply, so everyone who applies has already accepted your number. You then choose who gets the job.
